The system

What is Reotemp Intelligence?

A subscription monitoring service from Reotemp Instruments. Wireless probes send temperatures to the cloud around the clock, and the software gives you live dashboards, text and email alerts, and automatically generated reports. CompostWatch serves compost operators. RailcarWatch serves rail terminals.

What composting methods does CompostWatch support?

Windrows, aerated static piles and mulch production. Probe length and sensor count are chosen at order time to suit the pile.

How do the probes connect?

Every probe has its own built-in cellular connection and reports on its own. There is no hub, antenna or receiver to install, and one probe going down never affects the rest. See how it works.

Do we need internet or IT approval on site?

No. The probes connect over cellular on their own. Nothing touches your network.

How durable are the probes?

Probes are built for heat, direct sun, snow, freezing, rain and high-temperature composting, with a proprietary corrosion-proof sheath proven in compost. Some sites are still running probes installed more than 15 years ago. The design is modular, so a stem, radio or battery can be replaced on site. Probes are made in the USA under ISO 9001.

How long does the battery last?

Two years. Replacement batteries are included in the subscription and ship to you. They swap in the field with quick-disconnect connectors.

How often are temperatures recorded?

Every 15 minutes. Probes transmit the stored readings about once an hour, and more often when temperatures are changing quickly.

What happens if a probe loses cellular signal?

It keeps recording. All readings are stored on the probe and sent once the connection is back, so there is no gap in your record.

How accurate are the probes?

Plus or minus 2 F.

What if a probe stops working?

We replace it as part of the subscription.

Software and compliance

Do we need to install an app?

No. The dashboard is a web app that runs on any phone, tablet or computer.

What reports does the system generate?

CompostWatch generates a PFRP and VAR report for each batch with daily temperatures, a graph, operator, feedstocks and comments. RailcarWatch generates a batch temperature report plus a CSV of every reading. View a sample compost report.

Are the reports accepted by regulators?

Hundreds of operators submit CompostWatch reports for state compliance. Customers also use them to support OMRI compliance and the California Leafy Green Marketing Agreement, and local enforcement agencies rely on them.

How do alerts work?

Set high and low temperature thresholds per pile, or per material for railcars. When a threshold is crossed you receive a text or email.

How long is data kept, and can we export it?

Temperature history is stored for two years. Raw data can be exported to Excel or CSV at any time for long-term storage.

Can we log turnings, watering and feedstocks?

Yes. Events and comments are recorded with a timestamp and appear on the batch report.

Ordering and pricing

How do I get a price?

The fastest way is a short consultation with Emilio Cervantes, our Business Development Manager. He will walk through your site and build the quote with you. Book a time with Emilio. Prefer to do it yourself? The online configurator emails you a quote in about three minutes. Start a quote.

What does "get started for $1" mean?

For cellular systems, your first month and shipping cost $1. After 30 days your subscription begins at the rate on your quote. It is a promotion, not a trial: you keep using the same probes.

What is included in the subscription?

Probes and all data-collection hardware, cellular data, cloud software, alerts, automatic reports, replacement batteries and probe replacement if one fails in the field.

How are we billed?

Monthly, quarterly or annually by card. Enterprise accounts can be invoiced on net 30 to 90 day terms and pay by card, ACH or bank transfer. Ask Emilio about enterprise billing.

How long is a quote valid?

90 days.

Where are the probes made and shipped from?

Reotemp designs and manufactures in San Diego, California under ISO 9001. Standard lead time is 5 to 7 days, with delivery across the USA, Canada and Mexico.

We are measuring something other than compost or railcars. Can you help?

Often, yes. Reotemp probes are used in brewing, asphalt, grain, soil and other processes. Tell us about your application.
